What Hepar-POS® contains
The active substance is dry extract from artichoke leaves.
1 capsule contains 400 mg dry extract from artichoke leaves 4 - 6 : 1.
Extraction solvent: Water

A choleretic efficacy is discussed for preparations from artichoke leaves. The dicaffeoylquinic acids are likely to be an important group of constituents in this respect. The sequiterpene lactones, and flavonoids, may also exert biological effects.

Therapeutic Indications
Dyspeptic complaints, especially in functional disorders of the efferent biliary tract.

In the patient information leaflet, the patient is informed about the following:
In case of disorders which last longer than one week or are coming back regularly, a physician
should be consulted, as it should be with all unclear disorders.
Posology and Method of Administration

If not otherwise prescribed, the normal dosage for adults and children over 12 years of age is 1 capsule 3 times daily.

Hepar-POS® should be taken unchewed with the meals with some liquid (e.g. a glass of water).

Absolute contraindications:
Hepar-POS® is contraindicated in an acute blocking of the efferent biliary tract as well as in cases of known allergy to artichokes, other Asteraceae and/or other ingredients of the medicinal product.

Relative contraindications:
In case of gallstone-disorders, the use of Hepar-POS® can only be recommended after the consultation of a physician.
